233 Unlocking Women’s Economic Power

Two weeks ago, I talked to Alicia Ortega, co-founder of Native Women Lead on Episode 231. She talked about a project her organization led to purchase products from native and women-owned businesses this year as a way to support them through the pandemic.

On this week’s episode, we’re taking a deeper dive into the businesses her organization supports. And we’re looking at why it’s so important to acknowledge women’s economic contributions in the workforce, as business owners, and as consumers.

223 Just Giovanna: How to Produce Long Lasting Positive Feelings Without Faking It

How can you consistently produce positive feelings without faking it or somehow settling for being grateful just because “it could be worse”?

On the show today we’ll dive into gratitude through the lens of the Well Woman Framework. I’ll talk about how to avoid faking your gratitude and how to consistently produce long-lasting positive feelings that lead to taking action. This is not about conjuring up false gratitude or telling yourself you “should” be grateful for something.

When you identify social, political, or economic inequality that impacts you personally or impacts your community or the world, it’s important not to fall prey to the “well, it’s much better than it used to be – you should be grateful” narrative.

I’ll walk you through the exact activities I use in the Well Woman Academy, giving you a peek into the group coaching program I run for smart women changing the world.

222 Creating Change with Trish Lopez

On the Well Woman Show this month, I interview Trish Lopez, founder of Teeniors®, where tech-savvy teens and young adults help senior citizens learn technology through one-on-one, personalized coaching. Lopez has worked professionally with everyone from Hollywood executives to political leaders. After 13 years in the film industry, she returned to Albuquerque as a new mom in 2015 and was inspired to create Teeniors® after seeing her own mom struggle to adapt to the digital world. A graduate of the University of New Mexico and a supporter of numerous social causes, Lopez’s primary interest is bringing people together from different worlds to create change in our communities.

today we’ll discuss:

– Why women tend to start more socially conscious businesses.

– and Why it’s important to show women and young adults that you can change your situation and improve your life.
